Basics

A professional antenna designed for two-way equipment that demands the most signal possible, this is an outstanding 800 MHz antenna. If you're mainly listening to trunking systems at 800 MHz, then this is the antenna for you!

The 1/2 wavelength "dipole" antenna provides an outstanding 2.5db of gain. It is injection molded and highly durable due to its strain relief base which contains a bnc connector for all scanners. It is approximately 8" tall and looks great. (The antenna also performs well at 900 MHz.) This is an all-around winner antenna that will suck-in 800 MHz signal like a champ.

So far I'm very impressed with the operation of this antenna over the others I have tried on my SDS100 and Whistler TRX-1

5 of 5 Good reception April 27, 2015
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Indianapolis, IN United States
This is a Laird 861 EXE antenna which is comparable to the Radio Shack 800 antenna, which I also have.  Side by side, it is hard to tell which one is the clear winner. It is longer by an inch though.  I live on the west side of Indianapolis and it picks up the Indianapolis Department of Public Safety and Hendricks county well, much better than stock, although honestly, I tend to favor the Laird 806 SMC stubby on my BCD436HP in strong signal areas.  Much shorter and cleaner on the radio and no need for a longer gain antenna which may pull in interference.  I got the Laird 806 EXE SMA and the 806 SMC for my 436 from antenna farm for much less and the shipping is a little more reasonable.
