High quality pre-amp with variable gain control and band pass filters to minimize interference. With a BNC Plug on one end and BNC socket on the other, the unit will fit on top of a handheld scanner or in line for use with a base receiver. Fitted band pass filters for much improved performance. Can be powered by an internal battery (9-volt battery included) or from 12v DC. This is the standard for portable scanner pre-amplifiers and has been recognized for years as the ultimate portable scanner pre-amp and it's also a sensational base scanner pre-amp if used in line with a telescoping or rubber duck base scanner antenna. This pre-amp is pricey but without a doubt the value is there in this brilliantly designed GaASFET product.

Virtually no amplifying of signal for me.  Very disappointing performance.  While the M75 is built better than the GRE Super Amplifier, it does not outperform the GRE Super Amplifier.  Don't waste your money.

The Jim M75 is a great little amplifier.  I'm using it on two different hand held scanners and it has greatly increased their performance.  I highly recommend this unit, especially  if you live in rural area.

Been using it for about a day now.   Works as advertised.  I love in a Valley and I just barely had reception for the digital trunking system I’m most interested in listening to.  No spot around my house seems to have good reception and as far as line of sight, there are a bunch of Appalachin mountain ridges between them and me.  Plug this baby in and I can even get the signal at my desk!    Because of this unit, I will likely NOT need to mount an antenna externally and may just opt for an attic install.   Works well on top of the scanner as well as inline.

Just received mine and installed in line using LMR 400 Cable.It was the best money I have spent and I have been in the scanner hobby for 35 years. I live out in the country in the rural Virginia mountainside and I am now picking up Chesapeake State Police on STARS over 145 miles away.  I will be buying another one soon.
