This is an outstanding filter product at an incredible low price compared to large and very expensive professional bandpass filters. One reason this filter can be made for less money is that it is designed for receive only applications such as with a scanner. Where this filter really shines is in those situations where you wish to dedicate a scanner to monitoring in the VHF and UHF ranges of 30-485 MHz. In many markets there are TV stations that put out a huge amount of power at frequencies above 485 MHz and of course there are cell phone and other transmitter towers located everywhere putting out a huge amount of RF energy at 700-1000 MHz This filter provides significant attenuation so that VHF and UHF reception is improved, sometimes dramatically so (every situation will be different). In the Boston market, for example, there are public safety agencies operating in the 470-473 MHz range as well as the 482-485 MHz range. In and around Philadelphia public safety ranges up to 512 MHz so another one of our filters is required.
